Rick Erasmus rode his new horse “Warrior” inside a store in Jeffreys Bay in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Stunned shoppers looked on in disbelief as the horse strolled through the store as the man attempted to buy groceries.
In the video footage (below), Mr Erasmus rode his horse which left supermarket shoppers bemused.
Colleagues can be seen confronting the man before he leads his horse down one of the isles.
The man and his horse were then told to leave the store by the supermarket manager as Mr Erasmus was forced to duck to avoid hitting his head on signs hanging from the ceiling.
Commotion can be heard in the store as some customers are heard laughing as the horse slowly began to trot out of the shop.
Mr Erasmus simply said “I did it for kicks. People were looking for some sensation‚ so I gave it to them and warmed them up.”
He also admitted he had taken his horse to a local bar to show him off to his friends, where he is believed to have not been welcomed.
Mr Erasmus said he was unfairly treated as he is thought to have made local headlines for not looking after his rescued horses, so he decided to take his new horse “for some beer”.
The man added: “At least he had manners and he did not mess in the store.”
Online commentators however fumed over the treatment of the horse, with one saying: “I have no idea what this guy was thinking, these tiles are so slippery”
